Visit with a Museum prescription

Museum prescription

01/06/24 - 30/06/25

free

1h-1h30

individual (accompanied or not) or in group

every day - every 1st Wednesday of the month during moments of weak stimuli

Several studies have confirmed it: visiting a museum is good for your health. The BELvue is proud to participate in the Museum prescriptions project, an initiative of the City of Brussels and the Psychiatry Department of the CHU Brugmann, which unites museum experience and mental health for the benefit of everyone. More info on the project.

By offering a qualitative experience that meets the specific needs of the patient, the museum visit complements medical treatment.

How does it work?

· Individual visit

You are a patient in one of the project's medical partner structures and you have a museum prescription.

You can visit the BELvue museum free of charge during opening hours. A person of your choice can accompany you. There is no need to book in advance.

Good to know: every first Wednesday morning of the month, we organise a low-incentive moment in the museum. We turn off the sound equipment in the museum (the lights stay on) and we do not accept groups without a museum prescription. This is so that you can visit the museum in tranquillity.

· Group visit

You are part of one of the medical partner structures and want to organise a visit to the museum for a group of patients.

Book the guided tour ‘Belgium in harmony’

The tour immerses the group in the musical world of the hang, a sweet-sounding and melodious percussion instrument with relaxing and soothing properties. The softness of the sounds creates a sense of fulfilment and relaxation that envelops the body from head to toe. From Belgian jazz to the harmonica of Toots Thielemans, the tour promises a journey through Belgian history through music and the senses. The experienced guides and attendants will make sure you are well taken care of.

This tour was developed in collaboration with CAP.

  • The tour lasts between 1h and 1h30 for a group of up to 8 people.
  • The tour can be organised every first Wednesday morning of the month, during the museum's low-incentive moments. This is when we switch off all the sound equipment in the museum (the lights remain on) and no other groups are accepted without museum instruction.
  • Price: free of charge
  • Booking: book directly with CAP, at least 3 weeks before the date of your visit.
